School Presentations

Cougars Gone Wired visits Schools to get elementary and middle school students excited about STEM and the FIRST programs. The presentations include a demonstration of our robot(s) and explanation of how Team 2996 and other FIRST teams build robots and compete with them. Our hope is that these kids will enter high school looking forward to joining an FRC team or pursuing a STEM activity.

REACH Summer Program

The REACH summer program created by the Colorado Springs School is a college preparatory program aimed at midle school students, focused on building 21st century skills. Cougars Gone Wired were invited to present our robots to several groups of students and show them some of the STEM world. We also talked to the kids about FIRST robotics, and all the skills necessary in our own team that remain important after high school and even college, such as teamwork and problem-solving skills.

NAWIC Presentation

The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) has helped women take advantage of oppportunities in construction since 1953, and now we have the honor to call the Pikes Peak Chapter one of our sponsors. Team 2996 volunteers to host their first meeting every year, we give a presentation on our team, and then we get to sit in on their meeting to learn more about how there association works.

Colorado Tech Summit

The Colorado Tech Summit is a conference lead by the Colorado Technology Association, our team was invited in 2016 to do a presentation on FIRST and team 2996. We were honored to present what we're passionate about and hear about many other branches of technology and how it's evolving around Colorado.

Colorado State Fair

The team traveled to Pueblo, Colorado, for the state fair where we demonstrated the robot next to 4-H (a youth development organization) student science exhibits. Together with FTC team 3746, we gave several presentations throughout the day to various spectators and inquisitive kids. After an 8 hour day and some time to listen to robot demonstrations from 4-H, we enjoyed sharing a little bit of FIRST with the Colorado Community.

Austin Bluffs Ministry

In June of 2011, Team 2996 presented to the Austin Bluffs Church Children’s Ministry. We showed our robot to two Children’s Ministry groups. It was a great experience to see the kids interacting with the robot. Hopefully we inspired them participate in STEM activities in the future!

Air Force Academy STEM Boot Camp

stem boot camp

Through a connection of Dr. Wood, a previous mentor, the team was given the opportunity to present to STEM teachers at the United States Air Force Academy. We presented that year’s robot, Grab-n-Go, who can still be seen at demonstrations today! After the presentation, the Academy was even kind enough to treat the team to lunch and a tour!
